South Carolina Radiation Oncology Center will open, pending state CON approval, in 2007. The center is located adjacent to the Conway Medical Center, at 252 Myrtle Trace Drive, in Conway, South Carolina, and for the first time will offer area residents a local service provider for their radiation oncology treatments.The facility will house a linear accelerator with dual photon and multiple electron energies, will include 120 multi-leaf collimation for 3-D and IMRT treatment, will provide portal imaging, and will be linked to the latest treatment planning and record-and-verify system.
CT simulation, for more complex treatment planning, as well as conventional fluoroscopic simulation will be available. In addition, the treatment planning system will include the ability to fuse PET, CT and MRI images, optimizing tumor targeting for precise treatment.
The center will be staffed with a registered nurse, registered radiation therapists, certified physicist and dosimetrist.
Physician services, by board certified radiation oncologists, will be provided by Southeast Radiation Oncology Group, P.A. (SERO).
